Investment Firm May Make $5 Billion Offer to Purchase Supervalu

After confirming it was in talks with several potential buyers, Supervalu may get an offer in the near future.

According to the Chicago Business Journal, New York-based Cerberus, an investment firm, is working with real estate firms to put together a possible $5 billion bid for the Eden Prairie company.

Supervalu, which is one of the largest supermarket owners in the U.S. according to the Wall Street Journal, has been struggling to compete in most markets and is burried in debt.

Activision Lays Off 31 Workers in Twin Cities Offices

Activision, a Santa Monica, CA-based company, announced it is laying off 31 workers in Eden Prairie and Eagan, MN offices.

According to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal, the company's move was prompted by the its shift away from licensed third-party games. Activision is best known for its hugely popular games games like "Call of Duty" and "World of Warcraft," however, the Twin Cities offices handled the marketing and publishing of licensed titles like its Cabela's hunting game, the article said.

Workers' last day will be Dec. 28, 2012.

Digital River Founder Steps Down From CEO Position

Joel Ronning, the founder of Eden Prairie-based Digital River, announced Thursday he would be stepping down as CEO.

According to Reuters, Thomas Madison, the company's lead independent director, will be the interim CEO. The company provides technology and services that allow clients to sell their products online.

Ronning will continue to be chairman of the board through Dec. 31 before retiring.
