School Board Approves Scheduled Raises for 450 Employees

The two-year contracts will cost the district approximately $500,000, and cover support staff.

The Eden Prairie School Board voted unanimously to approve two-year contracts with scheduled raises for two separate groups of district employees at a recent meeting.

Classroom support staff affiliated with Minnesota School Employees Association (MSEA) paraprofessionals will receive a 1.5 percent salary increase in the first year of their approved contract and a 1 percent increase in the second year, according the documents provided by the district.

District administrative staff affiliated with Classified Administrative and Support Staff (CLASS) will receive a 1.5 percent raise in the first and second years of their recently approved contract.

Board members specified that negotiations surrounding the approved contracts were amicable.

“It’s a very respectful process,” said John Estall, school board vice chair, on Sept. 25.

Both contracts will begin on July 1, 2012, and end June 30, 2014.

The MSEA support staff contract covers the salaries of approximately 300 district employees and will cost EPS approximately $260,000.

The administrative staff contract affects 150 district employees and will cost approximately $247,000.
