‘Speed Week’ Brings Extra Scrutiny to Speeding
Eden Prairie and other police departments are stepping up enforcement activities this week.

Officers in Eden Prairie and other communities will looking extra closely for speeders this week as part of the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety’s “Speed Week” initiative.
The initiative focuses on speed enforcement because unsafe and illegal speed is the most common contributing factor in fatal crashes, according to a Police Department blog.
Eden Prairie’s 2012 Quality of Life survey found that 37 of respondents thought speeding in their neighborhoods was a very serious or somewhat serious problem. That same survey found that “traffic speeding” was the most common answer when residents were asked what they considered the greatest concern in Eden Prairie. In all, 25 percent answered “traffic speeding.”
