Thieves Try to Break Into Three Eden Prairie Vehicles

Eden Prairie police are investigating a trio of apparent auto break-ins that happened earlier in January.

The first took place between 7 p.m. Jan. 17 and 7 a.m. Jan. 18 on the 10000 block of Purdey Road, according to police reports. A 59-year-old Eden Prairie man heard a door slam shut at about 5 a.m. Later, he found footprints in the snow leading to a car parked in the driveway. The doors were unlocked, the glove compartment was open and someone had gone through it, but nothing appeared to be missing.

The second incident happened at 2:29 a.m. Jan. 18 on the 10000 block of Grant Avenue. A 43-year-old Eden Prairie woman woke up to her car alarm going off. She went outside and saw footprints leading to the vehicle. The car was still locked and did not appear to have been opened.

In the final incident, a 50-year-old Eden Prairie woman found her front passenger side window shattered. Someone had stolen a pair of $100 sunglasses, a $180 pair of sunglasses, a $180 purse, a $100 briefcase and a wallet with credit cards, driver’s license and gift cards. The burglary happened between 10 p.m. Jan. 21 and 9 a.m. Jan. 22 while the car was parked on the 8000 block of Eden Road.
