New Sports Bar To Open In Former Salut Space At 50th And France

The Edina spot promises 30 TVs, a golf simulator lounge and a nod to a longtime neighborhood institution.

EDINA, MN — General Sports Bar opens Tuesday, September 8, taking over the former Salut space at 50th and France, on the border of Edina and Minneapolis.

The sports bar and kitchen will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week, plus weekend brunch starting at 9 a.m.

Owners Marty and Brett named the bar after the original General Sports store, a fixture on France Avenue for more than 50 years, their website notes.

As a nod to it, the basement will offer skate sharpening services alongside a golf simulator and darts room, the "Caddy Shack," available for private rental.

Inside, guests will find 30 HD TVs, 10 beers on tap, craft cocktails, and a menu built around burgers, wings, a rotisserie chicken and a lobster roll. The bar is billing itself as family friendly, with video games for kids alongside pull tabs for adults, and a party room that holds up to 45 people.

General Sports Bar is one of four new businesses opening at 50th and France this fall, alongside MeatEater, Smith Coffee and Cafe, and Americana.
