• Special assessment policy undergoes changes (fairmontsentinel.com) — Fairmont's city council has approved changes to the special assessment policy that will guide how future street and infrastructure costs are allocated to property owners starting after Oct. 1, 2026. Councilors pressed the city attorney on fairness, favoritism, and compliance with Minnesota Statute 429, while also scheduling an Oct. 26 assessment hearing and discussing reduced Sunday hours at the city liquor store due to staffing shortages.
