• Driver Dies After Car Rear-Ends Metro Transit Bus at Fridley Railroad Crossing (town.news) — A driver died after rear-ending a stopped Metro Transit Route 827 bus at the railroad crossing near East River Road NE and 43rd Avenue NE in Fridley Thursday morning. The bus driver had minor injuries and no passengers reported harm, while Metro Transit Police and the Minnesota State Patrol continue investigating what caused the fatal collision.
   

• Group of over 150 Allina Health doctors in Twin Cities files notice for strike (cbsnews.com) — Doctors at Mercy Hospital's Unity Campus in Fridley are among more than 150 Allina Health physicians planning a four-day strike from Sept. 14–17 after three years of stalled contract talks. Their union says they're pushing for better working conditions, more sick leave and time off, and a stronger voice in patient care that could affect how Fridley patients experience the hospital.
   

• 'Kids literally disappeared': Minnesota schools lost at least 1,700 students following Operation Metro Surge (eplocalnews.org) — Fridley Public Schools saw about 55 students disappear midyear and a tripling of long-term absentee "15-day drops" after federal Operation Metro Surge, even as more than 460 students shifted to online learning. Local staff delivered groceries, helped with rent and utilities, and created virtual options, but some immigrant families left Fridley or Minnesota entirely, leaving classrooms with empty seats and unanswered questions.
