MLK Day of Service: Tutor with Metro North ABE

Come celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday and his dream for equality by learning about adult basic education in your community.

Metro North Adult Basic Education provides free ESL and GED classes for adults in the Columbia Heights/Fridley area.

Volunteers to this one-time event will get the chance to learn more about the work we do and get the opportunity to work with our culturally diverse adult students.

You will meet and talk to our students and staff, and work with them on a classroom activity for about one hour, as well as learn about our organization, the free ESL, GED, and work-readiness classes we offer, and the enormous impact volunteer tutors make in the lives of adult learners. As a volunteer, you receive pre-service training on tutoring adults as well as on-going support. If you can read, write and speak clearly in English, you can be a volunteer.

So take this one time opportunity to see if you would like to become an adult tutor. With over 200,000 adults needing English language services, being an adult tutor is a wonderful way to make a difference in your community.
