Robbinsdale Cooper Girls Hoops Keep Rolling
Hawks notch 40-point win over Fridley, extend win streak to 9 games.
The Robbinsdale Cooper girls basketball team's winning streak reached nine on Thursday, as the Hawks defeated the Fridley Tigers 78-38 in Robbinsdale.
The win improved Cooper's record to 13-9 overall and 11-1 in North Suburban Conference play.
The Hawks got off to a quick start by playing strong team defense and forcing turnovers which led to several points on fastbreaks. Sophomore guard Chelsey McGee scored 17 of her 24 points in the first half, sparking Cooper's quick start. Mcgee's 17 point first half matched the entire offensive production of Fridley as the Hawks led 41-17 at the break.

Cooper continued to play with the same focus and defensive intensity in the second half leading to even more points off of turnovers.
Even as the starters for the Hawks sat a majority of the half, the same effort was applied by the bench and the margin grew to 40 points by the conclusion of the game. McGee's 24 points led all scorers, while Talayiah Rich and Kwanisha Patterson added 16 points and 12 points, respectively.

"We are playing hard with great team effort, especially on the defensive end," Hawks coach Jen Rademacher said. "When you play good defense, good things tend to happen."
The Hawks next game will be played Tuesday at Spring Lake Park against the Panthers. Tip-off is at 7:15 p.m.
