Fridley, Spring Lake Park, Totino-Grace Athletes Compete at Hamline Elite Meet

Fridley-area schools were well-represented at the prestigious meet.

Athletes from Spring Lake Park, Totino-Grace, and Fridley high schools competed at the prestigious Hamline Elite track and field meet on Friday. The event, a statewide qualify-only event based on athletes’ results during the 2011 season, showcases the top track and field athletes in Minnesota.

Fridley High School
Fridley's Hannah Niewald finished fifth in the girls long jump with a jump of 16 feet, 10.5 inches. (Bagley/Fosston's Analisa Huschle won the event with a 18-01.50 jump.)

Totino-Grace High School
The Totino-Grace boys and girls track and field teams were well represented Friday at the Hamline Elite meet in St. Paul.

A pair of Eagles finished in the top 10 in the boys 3200 meter run, as Steven Dado finished fifth at 9:24.13 and teammate Adam Braun finished sixth at 9:24.13.

In the girls 200 meter dash, Rachel Trentor finished sixth overall with a time of 26.94. She also finished 10th overall in the 100 meter dash with a preliminary time of 13.46.

Spring Lake Park High School
For Spring Lake Park, the boys 4 x 200 meter relay team finished third overall with a time of 1:31.44. In the boys 100 meter dash, David Shadduck finished 10th overall with a preliminary time of 11.77. On the girls side, Bria Jones took 10th in the girls high jump by leaping 5 feet, 0 inches.
