So, finally, after a lot of obnoxious schlepping about and doing everything short of illegalities, I came across work. Kind of by chance.
I had just been told that I wasn't getting the job I'd gone and interviewed for (which would have been nice, I would've been making a living wage, but I digress) and my friend called her dad to see if he still needed help around his shop. He told her about Bill at the Pit Stop Chill and Grill in Columbia Heights and how he was looking for ice cream truck drivers (as well as help at the drive in restaurant). So I went straight down and filled out an application- and now I've been driving an ice cream truck for a little over two weeks.
Today is payday. You have no idea how nice it's gonna be to finally have more than $1 to my name.
So until roughly October, I'll be tooling around Brooklyn Park (and some north and northeast metro parks) in a big old ice cream truck that I'm pretty sure is a converted Lays or Old Dutch truck- it's one of those great big white angular vans that chip and snack cake vendors usually drive.
And starting tomorrow and going until the end of August, I will be posting a 100 word snippet of whatever I've been writing EVERY SINGLE DAY and releasing at least one new story every week. Usually on Fridays or Saturdays. Naturally, I'll include the link when I've published something.
Mid-July should see the release of my latest novella: Excelsior. It's kind of a dark Sci-Fi.
Four lucky people from all walks of life won the trip of a lifetime. In just a few short months Benjamin Parker, Polly Walker, Annie Franklin, and Candice Johannson will all go into space- and into monitored stasis. After another few months time, they'll wake to find themselves approaching the red planet- Mars.
But their journey will be wrought with peril. And not all of them may survive.
When they are set to return to Earth in ten years will there be anybody left to return?
Excelsior, by Emmaline Westlund
