More Record Days for Gun-Applications in Anoka County

Citizens continue to file requests with sheriff's office in large numbers, according to reports.

The record-setting pace of Anoka County residents seeking gun permits hasn't slowed down in the month since the mass-shooting at Sandy Hook school in Newtown, CT.

WCCO-TV reported:

On Monday, Anoka County received 49 applications for permits to carry handguns – setting a new one-day record. That topped the previous record set on New Year’s Eve.

The Star Tribune reported there have been three record days for numbers of permit seekers in the last month.

The first record was set in the days immediately after the Newtown shooting, with the Trail's End store in Fridley experiencing a "feeding frenzy" of customer purchases of firearms and ammunition, according to the store manager.
