UPDATE: North Metro Stars beat Coon Rapids 3-2 in Schwan's Boys Hockey Final

Stars team that includes Fridley takes Open Division trophy.

Original post (11:30 a.m.): The North Metro Stars boys hockey team faces Coon Rapids in the Open Division final of the Schwan Cup tournament. It's a rematch of , when Coon Rapids won 6-3 to take the Open Division trophy.

The final is set for noon Wednesday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Earlier in the tournament, the Stars defeated St. Paul Academy 5-3 and Marshall 7-3. Against Marshall, Travis Ricci's four goals made the difference for the Stars, according to the Marshall Independent.

The Stars team draws players from and three other schools, including host school Park Center Senior High and Columbia Heights and Brooklyn Center high schools.
