North Suburban Adapted Floor Hockey Bows in State Semifinals

In the 2012 Minnesota State High School League adapted floor hockey tournament, the North Suburban team—including players from Spring Lake Park and Centennial high schools—made it to Saturday's semifinal round, losing to Anoka-Hennepin 17-10

To get there in the CI division, the North Suburban team won an overtime matchup with Owatonna 13-12, powered by 10 goals by Tyler Engel, a sophomore at .

Wags on Twitter said Engel had scored a "double Besse"—after Grant Besse, who for Benilde-St. Margaret's in the state Class 2A boys ice hockey final last weekend—or that Besse had scored "half an Engel."

North Suburban is playing Dakota United for third place in a game that started at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Bloomington Jefferson High School.

Adapted floor hockey is one of four sports put on by the MSHSL specifically for athletes with disabilities. Athletes with physical or health impairments are in one division (PI), while those with cognitive disabilities are in another (CI).
