PHOTOS: Fridley Fire Dept. Helps at Spring Lake Park Apartment Building

The Fridley Fire Department lent assistance to local crews at an apartment building in the 7800 block of University Avenue NE at about 2 p.m. Wednesday, according to Twin Cities Fire Wire.

"It was burnt food on the stove which created a lot of smoke in the apartment. There was no fire," said Assistant Chief Harlan Lundstrom of the Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View (SBM) Fire Department in an email Wednesday.

Eyewitness Todd Carnis said he saw heavy, black smoke coming out of a first-floor unit in the building. Within minutes, fire fighters were moving in fans to clear the smoke, he said. 

Twin Cities Fire Wire reported that one person received evaluation from Allina medical staff on the scene.
