Santorum Extends Early Success in Anoka County and Minnesota to Mississippi and Alabama
GOP candidate got boost in March from local Republicans, who gave him half their support.

Rick Santorum won primary elections in Alabama and Mississippi on Tuesday, extending a series of recent wins in his GOP presidential campaign.
Locals in Anoka County can take some credit in helping him along.
Santorum's recent surge started with his simultaneous wins in Minnesota, Missouri and Colorado on Feb. 7.

Anoka County played a role in boosting Santorum—hia support was even greater here than statewide.

Statewide, Santorum had 21,988 votes for 45 percent. Ron Paul had 13,282 votes for 27 percent. Mitt Romney had 8,240 votes for 17 percent. And Newt Gingrich had 5,263 votes for 11 percent.
