Paige Hanson wowed the crowd with her rendition of All Your Life by The Band Perry, waving their cell phones to the music ().
Megan Rodriguez and Hannah Pahl started off the introduction of the candidates with a humorous look at the morning wake-up calls the king and queen candidates received from the student council.
Procession Rosters
The freshman candidates began the processional: Emily Borene, Ally Guzy and Kati Thunborg were escorted by Brendon Aycock, Luke Martin and Antonio Zepeda.
Sophomore candidates followed: India Bembry, Kennedy Koralesky and Austin Murphy were escorted by Eji Ejiya, T.C. Robinson and Nick Turnquist.
Junior candidates made it humorous as the girls (Cecilia De La Cruz, Alexis Luedtke, and Tishayla Oliver) escorted the boys (Lencho Omer, Matt Vradenburg and Matt Fruzyna) in wheelchairs—to accomodate Fruzyna's broken leg.
Senior Queen candidates Tera Finley, Allison Herreid, Lorna Lastovich, Lindsay Trappen and Katya Bogoslovskaya were escorted by King candidates Nick Auman, Nate Dyles, Mikey Kutek, Spencer Stachowski and Jordan Spahr.
Crownings
Beth Wackman crowned the young Princes and they in turn crowned the Princesses.
Freshman Luke Martin crowned Allie Guzy.
Sophomore Eji Ejiya crowned Austin Murphy.
Junior Lencho Omer crowned Cecilia De La Cruz.
The highlight of the evening was the crowning of Nick Auman as the 2011 Fall Homecoming King and Katya Bogoslovskaya as Queen.
The Rest of the Week
The King and Queen and their court will reign over the remainder of the week's festivities:
Wednesday: The popular Powder Puff Game begins at 5:30 p.m. and is followed by a street dance (for SLP students only) from 7-9 p.m.
The fun concludes Friday with an outdoor Pepfest from 1:30-2:30 p.m., tailgating in front of the Rotunda from 4:30-6:30 p.m., with the Homecoming Parade wending its way through the school's streets at 5:30 p.m.
The week's festivities culminate in the football game against Richfield at 7 p.m. and the finale, the Homecoming Dance, from 8:30-11 pm.
As the week ends, the seniors will add more memories of their last year in high school.
And for those who are longing for those old times at Spring Lake Park High School? You're invited to Monte's for an all-class reunion on Nov. 11, 2011, featuring SLP grad Curt Racutt's band 7even Synz.
