There was no "immediate health hazard," according to the Totino-Grace website, which carried these updates on the situation (as of 2:45 p.m.):
Hazardous Materials Chemical Assessment Team and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Emergency Response Team are now onsite and are starting their evaluation. Students will not be dismissed until we receive clearance to do so. Parents picking up their students may choose to wait at Moore Lake until further notice.

At approximately 11:45 a.m. today, April 20th, mercury from a thermometer was found on the floor of a classroom in the main school building. All student and staff have been evacuated and we are following our Emergency/Disaster Preparedness Plan.
There is no immediate health hazard to individual that were in the school building. The Fridley Police and Fire Departments have represenative on site evaluating the situation. We aim to keep you updated on this situation on our website's homepage. At this time we will not dismiss any students until emergency services can better evaluate the situation.
