PHOTOS: Totino-Grace Loses Football Home Opener

The football team dropped its 2011 season opener on Thursday at home, falling to Minnetonka 28-0 in Fridley.

The Eagles (0-1), and four titles in the past five seasons, elected to this season and will compete against the biggest schools in the state come postseason play. 

But on Thursday Totino-Grace couldn’t get its offense rolling against the Skippers—who hail from a perennially powerful Lake Conference— and fell at home for the first time since Sept. 16, 2005 (a 29-28 overtime loss to ). The winning streak spanned 22 regular season games.

Last year, Totino-Grace defeated Minnetonka 21-0 on the road.

The Eagles look to bounce back from Thursday’s loss next week when they travel to North Suburban Conference rival Benilde-St. Margaret’s. Game time is 7 p.m. on Friday in St. Louis Park.
