A Sweet Surprise: Valentine's Singing Telegrams

Robbinsdale Cooper High Chamber Choir surprises staff and students with sweet serenades.

Students and staff at Robbinsdale Cooper High School got a sweet serenade surprise Monday as the Chamber Choir toured the building, stopping in 50 classrooms to deliver a live, singing Valentine's telegram.

"It's just a tradition," says Choir Director Sheryl Brame. "I've been here for 17 years, so it's been at least 17 years."

Twenty-two members of the after-school Chamber Choir group spent their second and third periods serenading the special Valentines as part of a fundraiser for student council during Snow Week—a week of school spirit that ends with a Jack of Hearts dance Saturday night. As part of the fun, students or staff could buy a singing telegram for $4 and have it delivered Monday, on Valentine's Day, to its recipient in front of everyone.
