Absentee Voting Begins September 18 In Golden Valley

Voters can return ballots by mail or in person at City Hall.

Absentee voting for the 2020 general election begins Fri, Sept 18 and runs through Mon, Nov 2. Election Day is Tues, Nov 3.

Any eligible voter may vote by absentee ballot for any reason, and absentee ballots can be cast by mail or in person. Check the City website for the requirements and process for voting absentee.

Vote Early By Mail

Voters must fill out an application to receive a ballot and do not need to be registered to vote to apply for an absentee ballot. To make the process easier, you may want to register or ensure you are registered before applying for an absentee ballot. Once your absentee ballot arrives in the mail, completed ballots must be received on or before Election Day, Nov 3. Voters can return ballots by mail or in person at City Hall.

Vote Early In Person

You may vote by absentee ballot at City Hall (2nd floor, 7800 Golden Valley Rd) beginning on the dates noted above for the general election. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am-4:30 pm.

Closer to election days, City Hall will be open extended hours for absentee voting (sometimes called “early voting”):

  • General Election
    Saturday, Oct 31, 10 am-3 pm
    Monday, Nov 2, 8 am-5 pm
