Armstong, Cooper Grapplers Compete at Sectionals

Falcons and Hawks bow out in quarterfinals of Section 6AAA Tournament Saturday.

The Robbinsdale Cooper and Armstrong wrestling squads both competed at the Section 6AAA team tournament, held at Hopkins High School on Saturday.

While the seventh-seeded Falcons were able to claim a dominating 66-6 victory over No. 10 Edina in the opening "pigtail" round, neither Robbinsdale team was able to advance out of the quarterfinals.

The Hawks, seeded sixth, had a first-round bye, but lost by a 54-21 score to third-seeded Hopkins, while Armstrong suffered a 54-19 defeat to second-seeded Minnetonka in the second round.

Both Cooper and Armstrong wrestlers will now prepare for the Section 6AAA individual tournament, scheduled to be held on Feb. 25-26 at Minnetonka High School.
