Breck Advances To State Consolation Finals
The Mustangs boys hockey team beat New Ulm 6-0 on Thursday and will face Rochester Lourdes on Saturday.
The boys hockey team bounced back from its Class A state quarterfinal loss to Thief River Falls with a 6-0 win over New Ulm in Thursday’s consolation semifinal at Mariucci Arena.
The Mustangs will face Rochester Lourdes at 10 a.m. Saturday for the consolation championship at the University of Minnesota.
Breck picked up goals by five different players in the game—led by Jack O’Connor’s pair of scores. Max Oppenheimer opened up scoring 2:23 into the first period, and Grant Opperman, Matt Colford and Wesley Iverson each scored third period goals to extend the Mustangs’ lead to 6-0.

Breck goalie Cooper Stainbrook made 20 saves on the day in picking up the shutout. The win improves Breck’s record to 21-9-0.
