Breck Boys Hockey Wins Consolation Championship

The Mustangs rallied off two straight wins after losing Wednesday's Class A quarterfinal

The boys hockey team finished up its run at the Class A state tournament Saturday with a 7-4 win over Rochester Lourdes at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis.

The Mustangs lost their first game of the tournament 6-4 to Thief River Falls but bounced back to beat New Ulm on Thursday in the consolation semifinals. It is Breck’s second consolation championship overall.

Breck took a 3-0 lead midway through the second period thanks to a first period goal by Jack O’Connor and second period strikes from Conor Anderle and Wesley Iverson. After Lourdes scored, Shayne Ciernia found the net to put the Mustangs up 4-1.
