Breck Places Sixth At State Gymnastics Meet
Mustangs set new season-high score in Class A team championship competition.
The Breck gymnastics team is ending the season on a high note as the Mustangs recorded a season-high score of 138.125 to place sixth at the Class A state team gymnastics meet, held at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion on Friday afternoon.
"They did awesome," Breck coach Brittany Moore said.
After an 8th-place finish last season, the Mustangs moved up two places in topping their previous season high in scoring, 137.9, set at the Section 4A meet last week.

"We placed last in this meet last year," Moore said. "We wanted to come back and show that we weren't just happy to be here."
Breck recorded scores of 35.2 on vault, 31.7 on uneven bars, 35.85 on balance beam and 35.375 on floor exercise en route to the team's total count — the beam score standing as the third-best of the eight teams in competition on the day.

Section 8A's Perham won the meet with a score of 146.025.
Tori Goldstein tallied the Mustangs' best scores on both beam (9.325) and vault (8.975); Libby Lee recorded the Mustangs' top finish on floor with a 9.225, while Sammy Cosgriff's bars score of 8.125 was the team's best.
"All-in-all, it was a good day," Moore said. "I'm proud of the girls and they should be proud of themselves."
Qualifying Breck gymnasts will have one more day of competition on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m., in the Class A individual championships, with three Mustangs — Goldstein, Lee and Niara Hill — competing in the all-around.
Joining that trio, Nicole Lee will compete on vault, as will Cosgriff on bars.
"There's some great gymnasts here, so I hope our girls just go out and have their best performances of the season on Saturday," Moore said. "I just want them to do their best."
