Breck wins in OT 4 - 3, Advances to State

It wasn't easy, and it took longer than anticipated, but the Mustangs' run through Section 2A ended with a 4 - 3 win over Orono on Thursday night at the Parade Ice Garden in Minneapolis.

Breck had a difficult time handling Orono's physical play early in the game. Down by two goals entering the third period, the Mustangs roared back to score three in the third period to force the game into overtime.

Both goalies came up big during the first overtime, stopping shot after shot to extend the game into  yet another period.

The second overtime period didn't last long, however, as Breck's David Zosel put the puck in the net to end the marathon game at :059 in overtime number two.

With the victory, the Mustangs claim the Section 2A championship and earned a birth in the Class A state tournament next weekend at the Xcel Energy Center.
