Breck's Laorr Sits Second After Opening Round Of State Tournament

The senior shot a 76, one shot off the lead.

Breck senior Anna Laorr finished up Day One of the Class AA state girls golf tournament tied for second place at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan.

Laorr finished up the day with a round of 76, tied with Becker’s Kourtney Williams and one shot behind Jackson County Central’s Kaylee Benson’s 75.

Mustangs senior Kayla Mork finished tied for 22nd on the day with a 87. She is tied with three other golfers 12 shots off the pace.

Detroit Lakes currently leads the team standings with a 329, one stroke ahead of Red Wings’ 330. The second round begins at 11:40 a.m. on Thursday.

On the boys side, Breck senior Eric Laorr finished the first day of competition with 77. He is currently tied for 28th with seven other golfers. He is seven shots behind Marshall’s Max Deutz, who leads the field with a 70. In the team competition, Marshall leads heading into Thursday with a 299. Three-time state champion Orono is fourth with a 306.
