Calvary Welcomes Everyone to Whoville-inspired Community Christmas Party on Dec. 15
Variety of Special Worship Services Also Planned Over Holiday Season

“Two decades have passed since his heart grew so fast, yet the green one's still learning... come see! A fantastical night for all ‘whos’ of all height—some good food, lots of fun, and it's free!”
Such is the theme of a Whoville-inspired Community Christmas Party taking place on Thursday, Dec. 15. The public is invited to this event, as well as several special worship services, being hosted by Calvary Lutheran Church, 7520 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, Minn., over the holiday season.
The Community Christmas Party will feature a free dinner—including pork loin, potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, dessert and beverage—which will be served from 4:30 to 6:45 p.m. A Christmas carol sing-along, Whoville-inspired activities and crafts, a photo booth, and several musical ensembles will also be part of the celebration. The highlight of the event will be an original dramatic production at 7 p.m. featuring an assortment of Whoville characters, special music and other surprises.

On Saturday, Dec. 24, Calvary will hold a total of six Christmas Eve worship services. “Family-friendly” services will take place at 2 and 3:30 p.m., with candlelight services being held at 5, 8:30 and 10 p.m. A Spanish service is scheduled for 7 p.m. A nursery for infants through age 5 will be available from 1:45 to 6:15 p.m. that day. An American Sign Language interpreter will be part of the 5 p.m. service.
On Sunday, Dec. 25, a Christmas Day worship service with Holy Communion will be held at 10 a.m.

On Sunday, Jan. 1, Jonathan Swenson from Paraphrase Theatre will present “Celebrate the Child” at 9 and 10:30 a.m. worship services. “Celebrate the Child” blends six different characters, each reflecting on the birth of Christ and all performed by Swenson.
