"Children and Grief" September SPARC session
SPARC (Schools, Parents and Resources Connected), is a series of informational sessions that bring parents, educators and community members together to learn about important topics that build resiliency and developmental assets in our children.Jenny Simmonds has been Lead Program Coordinator and Camp Erin-Twin Cities Director for Fairview's Youth Grief Services since 2008. She holds a Masters of Education degree in Youth Development Leadership, and has facilitated hundreds of psycho-social support groups for children, teens and adults for over 20 years. In addition, Jenny serves as adjunct faculty at the University of Minnesota in the Youth Studies Department and has authored three books related to kids managing their anger, anti-bullying, and children experiencing significant family change.
At the end of this FREE educational session, attendees will be able to: 1) Identify key factors that influences one's grief process; 2) Understand the typical grief reactions based on one's chronological age and developmental state; and 3) Explore helpful tips and tools to support grieving kids and families.
