Christine Dohrmann named Robbinsdale Area Schools 2015 Teacher of the Year

Cooper High School special education teacher Christine Dohrmann was named the 2015 Teacher of the Year

Cooper High School special education teacher Christine Dohrmann was named the 2015 Teacher of the Year during an evening ceremony May 13.
“This is such an honor,” Dohrmann said. “I know that for everyone (nominated for this) and in this district, we do this for the kids. We don’t do this because we want the accolades. We do this because we love the kids in our hearts, and it’s what we like to do – it’s what we’re drawn to.”
“Christine represents the best of what we have here in Robbinsdale,” said Peter Eckhoff, president of the Robbinsdale Federation of Teachers. “Her unbelievable commitment to her children in her center-based classroom shows and shines in those children every day. She’s been a highly committed and deeply engaged member of the Cooper community as well, and we couldn’t ask for a better representative from Robbinsdale Area Schools.”
Kendall Thiede, a Cooper High School sophomore, introduced Dohrmann during the ceremony.
“Mrs. Dohrmann is very special to me because she does a lot of things for students with special needs, including me,” she said. “The best part is that she knows our differences and reminds us that we are unique in our own way. I am lucky to have a great teacher like Mrs. Dohrmann at Cooper, and I will never forget her.”
Other nominees for 2015 Teacher of the Year included Brent Olson, Armstrong High School; Lindsey Schiffler, Cooper High School; Kathy Seipp, Robbinsdale Middle School; Angie Senger, Fairview Care and Treatment; and Ann St. Clair, Sonnesyn Elementary School.
The district teacher of the year for 2014 was Brooke Schaffer, a physical education and Advancement Via Individual Determination elective teacher at Cooper High School.
