What Not To Flush

  • Diapers, Feminine Hygiene Products, Tissues—These items do not dissolve like toilet paper does. Toilet paper is the only paper material specifically made for flushing.
  • Flushable Wipes—Although some products say they can be flushed, in most cases this isn’t true (see photo). Throw away all wipes in the garbage.
  • Food Waste/Grease—Even if the food products seem small and harmless to plumbing, it’s always best to throw food and food grease in the garbage or compost. In fact, the City has an ordinance prohibiting food waste from being discharged into the sewer system.
