Council Looking To Update Pet Leashing Ordinance

The City Council is considering updates to its pet leashing ordinance as the current ordinance allows owners to control their pets using voice command within public spaces. Before deciding, the City Council is asking for input from residents.

Updated ordinance could include no longer allowing the use of voice command for control and could require the use of a leash no longer than six feet in length while in Golden Valley public spaces. The ordinance would not apply to pets in designated off-leash areas. The new ordinance could also outline guidelines regarding animal control on private property including electronic pet fencing and tethering pets outdoors.
