Covenant Village of Golden Valley presents "Climate Changed"

Environmental expert to explain changes observed in Minnesota's climate

Covenant Village of Golden Valley, a faith-based, not-for-profit continuing care retirement community administered by Covenant Retirement Communities, will host Patrick Hamilton, director of Global Change Initiatives at the Science Museum of Minnesota, as he discusses the implications of Minnesota’s climate change over the past 130 years. The program will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015.

For more than a century, volunteers throughout Minnesota have collected millions of temperature and precipitation observations. Analysis of the treasure trove of data reveals that Minnesota’s climate is changing in several significant ways. Hamilton will highlight the findings; provide insight into what this means for Minnesota; and suggest ways to improve our resilience to additional climate change in the future.

Hamilton is a Fellow of the University of Minnesota’s Institute on the Environment and serves on the board for District Energy, St. Paul. He’s been producing environmental projects for the museum for 30 years and is currently working on the Future Earth Initiative, which explores the implication of humans as the dominant agents of change on Earth.
