According to AARP, approximately 75 percent of parents avoid discussing their futures with their adult children. As a result, an unexpected but predictable event can become a crisis.
On June 10, 2014, at 1 p.m., Covenant Village of Golden Valley, a faith-based, not-for-profit, continuing care retirement community administered by Covenant Retirement Communities, will host Tim Prosch, author of AARP’s book “The Other Talk: A Guide to Talking with Your Adult Children about the Rest of Your Life.” The book, which is a culmination of Prosch’s 15-year career in elder care, helps seniors and adult children break down emotional barriers and discuss aging issues such as driving, living alone and financing an uncertain future.
During the event, Prosch will provide tools to begin family discussions about issues that concern aging parents, including trigger points, an important document checklist and a financial planning outline. Additionally, attendees will learn how the process can engage, empower and educate their family members.
Seating for this event is limited. To register, please visit www.CovenantVillageofGoldenValley.org or call (877) 804-7017.
Covenant Village of Golden Valley is located at 5800 St. Croix Ave. N., Golden Valley, Minn. 55422
