"Downsizing and Moving"

Covenant Village of Golden Valley welcomes relocation expert to offer tips & resources

Over the years, the family home accumulates more than heartfelt memories. It accumulates stuff – family heirlooms, furniture and clothing, receipts, and tax returns. Whether you’re moving to a new home, an assisted living residence or just need to downsize, there’s a strategy to getting it done efficiently.

On Thursday, May 19, at 1:30 p.m., Covenant Village of Golden Valley, a senior living community, will host downsizing expert Diane Bjorkman when she presents “Downsizing and Moving.” Bjorkman is the owner of Gentle Transitions, a senior relocation and move management company. She’ll provide helpful tips for sifting through the clutter, organizing, and preparing your home for a move now or later down the road. She’ll also share current Twin Cities resources that can make an upcoming transition smooth.

Gentle Transitions was founded in 1990 by Mercedes Gunderson, who experienced firsthand the difficulties of moving her own mother. It was the first corporation in the country dedicated to senior relocation.
