Testimony of the Tree

Christmas trees—they’re just about everywhere this time of year. But what is the Christmas tree’s meaning? And what story does it tell? Author Casey Schutrop’s “The Testimony of the Tree” will be the focus of this year’s women’s Christmas event at Calvary Lutheran Church.

Tickets are available for $10 at Calvary or by calling 763-231-2981.

Using stories and ideas from her book Grandma’s Christmas Legacy, the Testimony of the Tree (2009), Schutrop will share how the Christmas tree can reveal lessons of life and love, and can represent the true spirit of the season. While decorating an actual Christmas tree, Schutrop will encourage participants to “start a tradition, leave a legacy” by remembering the Christian message through their own trees at home. The event will also feature desserts by Heavenly Hosts Catering and music by Flute Cocktail, a 15-member adult flute choir from the Minneapolis metropolitan area. Flute Cocktail uses C flutes, alto and bass flutes, piccolo and whistles to play everything from contemporary and sacred to jazz and Broadway. Holiday and Christmas favorites will be among their selections on Dec. 12. Learn more at jillsimpressions.net/flute.
