Golden Valley City Council Approves Proclamation For Arbor Day And Arbor Month
The program recognizes communities that have proven their commitment to an effective, ongoing community forestry program.

At its May 5 meeting, the Golden Valley City Council proclaimed May 6, 2020 as Arbor Day and May as Arbor Month.

For many years the City of Golden Valley has been committed to preserving trees and has been apart of the Tree City USA program for 33 years. The program recognizes communities that have proven their commitment to an effective, ongoing community forestry program.
To be recognized by Tree City USA, a community must meet four standards:

- Operate a forestry division
- Have a tree ordinance
- Manage a comprehensive community forestry program
- Observe Arbor Day
This year’s Arbor Day activities in Golden Valley consisted of a tree planting at Brookview Park on May 6, 2020 by city staff (see video)
