Golden Valley seniors celebrate Active Aging Week
Colonial Acres at Covenant Village of Golden Valley Celebrates Active Aging Week with "Five Days on the River"

As part of the celebration of Active Aging Week, Sept. 21-27, 2014, Covenant Village of Golden Valley’s Colonial Acres was transformed into the riverboat “The Colonial Queen,” where residents from skilled nursing, assisted living/memory support and adult day care enjoyed five days filled with entertainment and activities, including a toe-tapping performance by The Sanok Dixieland Jazz Band. Todd Carsen, Covenant Village of Golden Valley’s newly appointed healthcare administrator, led the celebration.
Active Aging Week is sponsored by the International Council on Active Aging, and is designed to promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. This year’s theme was ‘Let the Adventure Begin.’
In addition to visiting various “ports of call,” including Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Missouri, Illinois and Iowa, residents played Riverboat Bingo, watched a spectacular showing of chainsaw carving by Jerry Woltman, and participated in a scavenger hunt. A morning at the spa left residents feeling pampered and renewed with manicures, hand massages and aromatherapy.
