Hobbs Award Nomination Deadline In Golden Valley Is September 30

The award will be presented during a City Council Meeting and recipient will receive a plaque with their name and organization inscribed.

The Golden Valley Human Rights Commission (HRC) is now accepting nominations for the 2020 Bill Hobbs Human Rights Award. The award recognizes members in the Golden Valley community who work to build an environment promoting fair and equal treatment for everyone. The nomination deadline is Sept 30, 2020, 4:30 pm.

Eligibility

  • Nominees must have lived, worked, or conducted business in Golden Valley during the nomination year.
  • Nominee activities proposed for recognition should have a positive impact or clearly improved understanding or cooperation in the areas of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, or familial status.
  • Nominee services must be either voluntary or above-and-beyond a paid employee’s usual job responsibilities.
  • Members of the Golden Valley Human Rights Commission are not eligible for the award while serving on the commission.

Nomination And Selection Process

Nominations may be submitted by either an individual or an organization by Sept 30. Fill out the online nomination form here.

The recipient is selected by members of the HRC. The Commission may also give special consideration to activities that have occurred for an extended time, at least part of which have taken place during the current year, and that have had a significant impact on an affected group or individual. The award will be presented during a City Council Meeting and the recipient will receive a plaque with their name and organization inscribed. In addition, a similar plaque will be permanently displayed at Golden Valley City Hall.
