Last Chance: Run the Valley 5k, 10K

Lace up the tennis shoes, break out the running shorts and download some tunes. It's time for Run the Valley.

The annual 5K/10K race, is set for Saturday, April 14, and now is the time to sign up. Your last chance to save $10 on the entry fee ends in a few days.

Participants can sign up online or in person at Brookview Community Center. The deadline to sign up online is April 12. The deadline to sign up in person is April 13 by 3 p.m. The cost is $30, which is $10 less than signing up on race day.

"I plan on running the 10K this year," Golden Valley resident Marion Burns said. "I'm a little nervous because this will be my first 10K, but I've heard it's a good course to start with."

This year marks the 18th annual Run the Valley. The route wraps around and offers scenic views of the course and nearby park.

The event is sponsored by the Golden Valley Human Services Foundation (GVHSF) with proceeds dontaed to local human service organizations.
