New Executive Chef Appointed at Covenant Village of Golden Valley

Thomas Straub has been named executive chef at Covenant Village of Golden Valley, a faith-based, not-for-profit continuing care retirement community located at 5800 St. Croix Ave. N., Golden Valley, Minn. He is employed by the community’s dining services provider Sodexo and will report to Covenant Village of Golden Valley Dining Services Director Heather Hengescht.

Straub manages day-to-day kitchen operations for the 344-resident community, including casual and formal dining in the residential and assisted living, memory support and healthcare settings. He oversees a kitchen staff of 25 and is responsible for developing menus that offer a variety of innovative, delicious, and healthy options for residents.

Straub has more than a decade of culinary experience, most recently as corporate chef at TravelCenters of America. He worked at the historic U.S. Grant Hotel in San Diego and honed his culinary skills working as sous chef and executive chef at various restaurants along California’s West Coast.

Straub is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, NY.
