New Hope Tumblers Take First At State

The Tumblers gymnastics team, which practices in Golden Valley, finished with a team score of 99.225

The New Hope Tumblers Team 2 finished first in the Midwest Amateur Gymnastics Association state championships on March 5 with a score of 99.225.

The meet, which was hosted by Faribault Gymnastics Club also included teams from Clearwater, Worthington, Northfield, Red Wing, Winona, New Ulm and St. Paul.

In five seasons of competition, this is the first time the Tumblers Team 2 has been able to qualify for the state meet. The team includes 10 girls between the ages of 9 and 14 who practice at Sandburg in Golden Valley.

Hannah Walker took first place on bars and all around in the junior division, Faith Robinson took first in the floor exercise in the novice division and Julia Rowles took first place on bars in the child division.

The MAGA championship is the final competition of the year for the Tumblers Team 2 until next fall. MAGA includes over 100 youth gymnastics teams from Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota.
