Public Invited to New Alpha Film Series Beginning March 26
Calvary to Host Free Dinner, DVD Presentation & Discussion Groups About Foundations of Faith

Is there more to life than this? Who is Jesus? What about the Bible, the Holy Spirit and prayer? People’s questions are many as they wrestle with matters of faith. Such questions are now the inspiration behind the new Alpha Film Series, which will be hosted at Calvary Lutheran Church, 7520 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, Minn., beginning March 26.
The series, which is free and open to the public, will run for 10 consecutive Sundays ending June 4. Each night will begin with a free dinner at 5 p.m., followed by a DVD presentation and discussion groups. Free childcare will be available for children age 5 and under, with an Alpha Kids program being offered for Kindergarten through grade 6. Visit calvary.org/alpha to register.
The Alpha Course was created by Nicky Gumbel in 1990 and, since then, has grown in great force. At last report, Alpha has been presented in 169 countries around the world, touching the lives of more than 29 million people. Calvary has led Alpha for 16 years.

However, the Alpha Course was recently revamped into more engaging, documentary-style presentations. Once strictly lecture, the videos still address the same foundational biblical truths, but do so through colorful footage and personal testimonies from all over the world.
The new Alpha Film Series is “epic in scale and scope,” having been filmed in Canada, the United Kingdom, France, India, Hong Kong, Israel and New York. Gumbel is joined by two new presenters, Toby Flint and Gemma Hunt, as they not only walk through the traditional Alpha material, but also weave in inspiring stories, heart-stirring interviews and lots of visual enhancements. Though the series remains true to Alpha’s long-standing aim to “explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment,” the new videos were reimagined for the next generation.
