After an educator is nominated, they are asked to fill out a survey of questions describing their teaching practices and the finalists are invited to interview with a committee. The Teacher of the Year announcement is made at an event in the spring with the Seven Dreams Education Foundation.
“This award is such a great opportunity to celebrate great teaching and great teachers here in Robbinsdale Area Schools,” said Peter Eckhoff, president of the Robbinsdale Federation of Teachers.
The winner of the district is nominated by the Robbinsdale Federation of Teachers as a candidate for the State Teacher of the Year, sponsored by Education Minnesota. The district teacher of the year for 2014 was Brooke Schaffer, a physical education and Advancement Via Individual Determination elective teacher at Cooper High School.
