Robbinsdale Armstrong Athletes Compete in Hamline Elite Meet
Armstrong High School sends track and field teammates to this prestigious meet
girls track and field senior Sid’Reshia Floyd admits she was paying close attention to her competitors’ preliminary times heading into Friday’s Hamline Elite meet.
Who could blame her? After winning the girls 100 meter dash two years ago, Floyd was ready to regain her spot at the top of Hamline’s prestigious annual meet.
“I’ve been looking at the postings, and I was nowhere to be found,” she said. “I’m ready to get my name back.”

She did just that. Floyd won the girls 100 meter dash with a 12.57 time in St. Paul. She edged Alexandria’s Rosey Erickson, who finished in 12.58 seconds.
Floyd led the way for the Falcons. Armstrong’s girls 4x100 meter relay team—comprised of Jazzmin Williams, Dustlynn Kaine, Suzanna Adams and Floyd—took third with a 49.95 time.

In the girls 4x200 meter relay, Williams, Floyd, Seridan Rasmussen and Kaine finished sixth overall with a 1:46.71 finish.
Emily Knapczyk took ninth in the girls 3200 meter run at 11:46.34, and on the boys side Matt Wallin took third in the discus with a toss of 157 feet, six inches.
Floyd said seeing such strong competition midway through the season will help her and her teammates prepare for sections and state. The Hamline Elite meet is a statewide qualify-only event based on the athletes’ previous results during the 2011 season.
“I look at this as a state preview,” Floyd said. “Everyone that is here is going to be at state.”
