Salvation Army Collecting Donations in Golden Valley for Tornado Victims

KARE-TV is hosting the event until 5:00 p.m. today.

Damage estimates from are up to nearly $200 million.  While insurance companies and tree service companies work on removing and replacing the major damage, many people are still without power and need essential items to get by.

KARE-TV, our neighbor in Golden Valley, is working with the Salvation Army today to collect items for those hit hardest from now through 5:00 p.m.  Volunteers will be in KARE's north parking lot just off Olson Memorial Highway and General Mills Blvd. 

According to KARE's website, here is what is needed most:

- Personal Hygiene Items - NEW (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, etc.)
- Diapers
- Non-perishable food
- Men's/Women's/Kids Underwear - NEW
- Clothing
- Blankets/bedding
- Towels

KARE reports that The Salvation Army is also accepting text donations.  Text "BLESSING" to 85944 to make a $10 donation to the Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services efforts.  (Standard texting fees apply)
