KORT Sign Design opened their showroom in Golden Valley about a year ago, and has given several local companies a facelift in that time. With a goal of “prettying up” neighborhoods and helping attract attention to other people’s businesses, they’re well on their way.
On the north side they’ve designed and installed outdoor signs for Tacos La Paloma in Anoka, Bridal Aisle Consignment in Osseo, State Farm in Coon Rapids and Gustavus Adolphus Church in Northeast Minneapolis. On the south side, they’ve gone as far as Cannon Falls, creating a new monument sign for Life Church.
KORT’s specialty is vinyl applications such as window and floor graphics, wall murals and vehicle wraps. You can see their storefront signs at St. Paul’s MidModMen on University Ave., and environmental branding at the corporate office of Aspire Beverages in Edina.

“The versatility of our work has been really exciting, if not surprising,” says owner Steve Bunnell. “One day we’re doing banners for local high school sports teams, and the next we’re wrapping food trucks. We’ve done projects for ad agencies, breweries, technology companies and t-shirt shops.”
Steve credits his networking groups (BNI, Twin West Chamber and Metro IBA) for bringing in business, as well as aggressive marketing efforts. A combination of direct mail and digital strategies keeps their name out in front of the crowd. “It’s a competitive business and we have to go up against big names as well as chains. But our focus on creative, quality, custom design and individual attention is helping us win projects all over town.”

The new Minnie Fitness in Hopkins displays the latest KORT creation, and you’ll probably notice the purple and white Power Objects signs in the North Loop if you drive down Washington Ave. Speaking of driving, you can’t miss the multitude of vehicle graphics they’ve designed, from Big Frog in Plymouth to Lulu’s Street Food in Hudson.
