Hopkins Girls Golf: Grund Earns Medalist Honors at Minnetonka C.C.

Emma Grund recorded a 36 to earn medalist honors as the Hopkins girls golf team lost in a tiebreaker to Minnetonka at Minnetonka Country Club on Thursday. Both teams scored a 203 in regulation play.

Hopkins Baseball: Royals 7, Edina 5

The Hopkins baseball team defeated Edina, 7-5, on Thursday at Braemar Park to improve to 7-6 overall and 2-4 in Lake Conference play.

Morgan Nybo tossed a five-inning no-hitter as the Hopkins softball team defeated Eden Prairie 11-0 on Thursday to improve to 12-1 overall and 7-0 in the Lake.

Hopkins Boys Lacrosse: Edina 12, Royals 7

The Hopkins boys lacrosse team fell at Edina, 12-7, on Thursday to fall to 3-6 overall and 0-5 in the Lake.

Ryan Hazuka leads the Royals with 13 goals, while Griffith Woodyard and Derek Brueske each have 11 goals to their credit.

Hopkings is scheduled to host Minneapolis on Saturday at 2 p.m.

A 12-9 defeat of visiting North Suburban Conference (NSC) foe Totino-Grace on Thursday boosted the Benilde-St. Margaret's girls lacrosse team's record to 4-2 overall and kept the Red Knights in a tie atop the circuit standings.

As of the last update, Paige Lawlor leads BSM with 10 goals, with Maddy Moore scoring nine goals and Sara Taffe accounting for six scores.

The Red Knights are scheduled to play at Edina at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Benilde-St. Margaret's Baseball: Red Knights 9, Chisago Lakes 3

After spotting host Chisago Lakes a 3-0 lead after two innings, the Benilde-St. Margaret's baseball team powered back to score in four of the next five frames to claim a 9-3 victory over its conference foe.

Gabe McDonald had three runs batted in and scored once for BSM, despite not having a hit. In fact, the Red Knights had only four hits in the game as they took advantage of six Tigers errors.

BSM starting pitcher Kenny Polarek earned the win with five innings of three-hit ball, giving up two earned runs and striking out four.

The Red Knights, 8-2 in NSC play, compete in the Apple Valley Tournament this weekend, beginning with a game against Brookings (S. Dak.) at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Legion Park in Apple Valley.

The Robbinsdale Cooper softball team won three-straight games on Wednesday and Thursday, all by shutout, as the Hawks topped Fridley 10-0, then swept Columbia Heights, 2-0 and 12-1, in a doubleheader.
