US Census Bureau Enables Support In 13 Languages

The US Census Bureau also offers libraries of census information and language support online in 59 non-English languages.

The 2020 US Census is quickly approaching, and the US Census Bureau offers options for responding in 13 different languages.

In Minnesota, roughly 500,000 residents speak a language different than English at home, according to US Census data. Among the most common are Spanish, Hmong, and Somali. In Golden Valley the most common include Russian, Spanish, Somali, and Amharic.

The 2020 US Census has options for responses in 13 languages online or by phone, more than ever before. These include English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Russian, Arabic, Tagalog, Polish, French, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, and Japanese. Printed census forms are only available in English and Spanish.

The US Census Bureau also offers libraries of census information and language support online in 59 non-English languages, including American Sign Language, as well as in Braille and large print.
