in Golden Valley is about to get some big improvements, thanks to millions in availalble funds over the next few years from the Minneapolis Park Board.

There are several options in front of the board - from creating Golden Valley's first dog park to improving trails or adding buildings.

Instead of waiting to see what changes are made, the board wants to know what you think.  Golden Valley's sole representative on the Citizen's Advisory Committee for Theo Wirth says he's having trouble getting the word out.

"If you've got a strong opinion, I need to know about it," says Damon Struyk.  "We might not agree, but let's have an open and civil discussion about it.  I don't want people to tell me down the road that they wish the park board had done something differently with the park.  I want to know now."

Struyk says he would love to see a dog park or trail improvements to increase park usage, but he wants to find a way to do it without over-development.

"But I'm just one person, and if I'm going to try to speak for Golden Valley residents, I really need to know what they're thinking."

The park board has a survey about what to do with northern Theo Wirth, and Struyk says there will be another one soon dealing with other parts of the park. 

"We've got 20 thousand people in Golden Valley and we haven't even heard from a hundred (as of last week)," he says.
